Experience Classic Opry Style at Carolina Opry’s Christmas Show

Guests who are spending time at Dayton House Resort during the Christmas season can celebrate in the classic opry style with “The Christmas Show of the South,” the Carolina Opry’s 31st annual arrangement of fabulous family-friendly holiday entertainment.

The Carolina Opry is owned by Calvin Gilmore, who also produces and performs in the shows. He spends months planning and developing his Christmas show to make each one a unique and unforgettable experience. Every year brings something new and exciting to the stage, artfully blended with the beauty and tradition that makes the Christmas season such a special time.

The 2016 Christmas show will feature local clog dancing group “All That,” the sensational stars of America’s Got Talent, with some brand new dance material choreographed especially for the show. Other featured performers include Calvin Gilmore, Rita Gumm, Christie Templeton, Brad Long, Tangena Church, Kym “Bogie” Shurbutt, Eric Gumm, Gary Baker, Trent Wideman, Gary Brown, Martha Brown, Kevin Hughes, Jeff Simmons, Kevin White, Steve Wilkerson, and The Carolina Opry Dancers.

There will even be a real horse-drawn sleigh on real snow! How will they do that inside the theater? You’ll have to see the show to find out!

In all, a cast of over 35 award-winning entertainers will join together with the holiday brass section to bring you a night of spectacular entertainment. There will be singing, dancing, music, humor – and producer Calvin Gilmore promises a show-stopping surprise as well. You do not want to miss this show!

The Christmas show isn’t the only holiday attraction at the Calvin Gilmore Theater – the beautiful decorations alone are worth the trip! The theater actually closes down for a week ahead of the holiday season to work non-stop on transforming the whole venue into a Christmas wonderland. When you step inside, you will feel like you have stepped into another world! There are more than thirty-five decorated Christmas trees, including a 30-foot tree in the lobby glowing with 25,000 lights, seventy-five wreaths, over five miles of twinkling fairy lights, and mounds of snow!

The Christmas show runs from November 1, 2016, through January 1, 2017, with regular evening performances and selectively scheduled matinees.

The Carolina Opry is a favorite attraction in Myrtle Beach, the only one to be praised as “the real thing” for its amazing talent and top-notch entertainment, and their Christmas show is deservedly a highlight of the performance year.
