Heading to Myrtle Beach this fall? Looking for something new to do after you hit the beach and enjoyed the amenities at The Dayton House Resort? Head to Murrells Inlet where you will find dozens of area restaurants and chefs competing to win the title of Chili master. Get your fill of every kind of chili imaginable – anything from seafood concoctions to spicy ones that will knock your socks off!
This event draws thousands of residents and visitors and helps raise money for the Grand Strand Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Not only are there inventive chili recipes, there are also arts and entertainment, a kids’ area with face painting and inflatables, and local craft vendors for you to enjoy.
To further help support the community the event planners are encouraging people to bring a non-perishable or canned food items that will enable South Strand Helping Hand to continue feeding the community.
The chili cook-off is free and open to the public. It begins at noon, on Sunday, October 8, with chili samples available to purchase from over 40 Myrtle Beach-area self-proclaimed “Chili masters”.
Competitions in several categories for this year include: Best Overall, Best Restaurant, People’s Choice, Hottest, Most Original, Best Vegetarian, Best Theme, and Best Use of South Carolina Products. Over $5,000 in cash and prizes will be given to the first place winners in each category.

Maybe you are looking for that great deal – how about 1 souvenir beer cup, 2 beer tickets, 10 chili tickets, $25; or 2 beer cups, 4 beer tickets, 10 chili tickets, $45.
Parking will be available at Belin United Methodist Church and the Creekside Cab office with shuttles running every 15 minutes from noon to 6:30 p.m.
The Chilympics raises money for the Grand Strand Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a national non-profit dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans and beaches.
