With summer officially over, it’s time for the Grand Strand’s fall festivities to begin. Mix the cool breezes with live music and a glass of wine or craft beer, and you’ve got the perfect autumn night.
All of the above can be found at one of the area’s favorite fall festivals, the Myrtle Beach Wine Fest. With easy access via a short cab ride from the Dayton House, our guests can sip, sample and socialize at the seventh annual event being held Oct. 1 at The Market Common.
Set for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The Market Common’s Valor Park, this day-long event features over 50 different wines from around the world. And if wine isn’t really your thing, there will also be a wide variety of craft beers available to quench your thirst. Admission is free for all attendees, but those who decide to sample must purchase a wine glass for $5. From there, you just “pay as you go” by purchasing sampling tickets at the gate. Some of the featured wines include Macrostie Chardonnay, Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Brancott Flight Song Pinot Grigio. Some of the featured beers include 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon, Weihenstephaner Oktoberfestbier and Ballast Point Pumpkin Down.
While popping the cork on some of the finest wines around, enjoy the live entertainment and variety of specialty vendors. If you need to take some breaks in between the tastings, walk around The Market Common’s upscale outdoor shopping center or dine at one of the finest restaurants along the Grand Strand. Some of the dining options include The Brass Tap, King Street Grille, Gordon Biersch, P.F. Chang’s and many, many more.
Another fall festival that has become a crowd favorite is the Myrtle Beach Oktoberfest. Also held at the scenic Valor Park in The Market Common, this is the perfect event for enjoying the cool autumn air, tasting different craft beers, indulging in scrumptious food and even taking a stroll through the pumpkin patch. Open from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, the event offers fun for everyone in the family. Kids can get their faces painted, play on inflatables and take part in many other activities. Just a few of the Oktoberfest beers to be on hand include Sam Adams Octoberfest, Terrapin RecreationAle, Lone Rider Shotgun Betty Hefeweizen and Lagunitas IPA. Festival vendors will also be serving bratwursts, wiener schnitzel and other traditional German fare. And don’t worry, there will also be a few American favorites as well.
Before heading over to The Market Common, grab a quick snack at the Yella Umbrella Poolside Bar & Grill located at the Dayton House Resort. Or even get your tan on — while you still can — out on the resort’s tanning lawn, sandy beach or poolside. While soaking up some sun along the Carolina coast, don't miss out on the incredible and memorable fall festivals the Grand Strand has to offer. It is a great way to get the whole family into the spirit of the season while still enjoying a nice vacation in Myrtle Beach.
