Cape Romain Lighthouse
Charters run from Historic Seaport George town to visit this lighthouse. This lighthouse is on Lighthouse Island in the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge. The first lighthouse was built on this site in 1827 and is still standing. The present lighthouse was built in 1858, it has a 150-foot octagonal pyramidal tower and was decommissioned in 1947.

Georgetown Lighthouse
Looking out towards the Atlantic Ocean, the Georgetown lighthouse sits at the mouth of Winyah Bay leading in to historic Georgetown ten miles away. Many of the locals around Georgetown call it the North Island lighthouse as it sits on North island and some didn't even know what I was talking about when I referred to it as the Georgetown lighthouse. It is after all, about twelve miles away from Georgetown by boat on North Island.

HARBOUR TOWN LIGHTHOUSE
This is a facsimile lighthouse. It is 90 feet in height, red and white striped, and was built in 1970 as a symbol for the Sea Pines Plantation development. There is a good view of the harbor from the top. The lighthouse stands at the entrance to the harbor, which is part of Sea Pines Plantation at Hilton Head SC.

Morris Island Lighthouse
The first lighthouse at Charleston was built in 1767 just after the French and Indian War when South Carolina was still a British Colony. A copper plate attached to the cornerstone of the lighthouse read, "The First Stone of this beacon was laid on the 30th of May 1767 in the seventh year of his Majesty's Reign, George the III." Burning pitch and oakum provided light and later candles were used.
